How to Register for
Online Food Safety Certification Courses
from NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY

Visit www.foodsafetytraining.info to determine which course(s) you are interested in taking. If you have any questions about the courses, contact Joanna Foegeding at 919-513-2090.

Once you have determined which courses to take, follow the registration instructions for a Lifelong Education (LLE-non-degree) student located on the NCSU Distance Education website at http://distance.ncsu.edu/registration/index.html

Individuals who wish to enroll in classes at NC State without being formally admitted into a degree program may do so through the Lifelong Education (LLE) program. There are two separate processes to registration.

1. Students must establish their eligibility to take classes at NC State. This can be done one of two ways.

Once your application has been processed, you will be contacted and given your Student ID, PIN number, and directions on how to access your Unity Account (ID and Password).

2. Once eligible, students may register for courses one of two ways:

  • Online through the Pack Tracks system using your Unity ID, Unity password, and the PIN number. Your schedule will appear in Pack Tracks within 48 hours of registration.
  • Download, complete, and return the Registration Request Form (located on our Forms page) to the Distance Education office. You will be notified once your registration is processed.

When using the Pack Tracks registration system, please keep in mind that Distance Education courses have section numbers of 601 and higher. Only these sections are billed at the Distance Education tuition rates (see Tuition & Fees). All other section numbers are considered on-campus and are billed as such.

Payment - You do not need to send any payment now. Once you are officially registered for your course(s), you will be sent a tuition bill from the University Cashiers Office for the appropriate credit hours you are taking. You can pay directly or have your employer send payment for you.

To begin the course, you will need to go to http://vista.ncsu.edu and enter your unity ID and password. This website will allow you to access the course(s) you have registered for. Please be sure and bookmark this site, as it is your starting point for accessing the courses.
