Project Name: Angier Downtown Revitalization Project Description: Concerned about storefront churches and losses of economic development. Project Name: Sturgeon Rehab Center Project Description: Public land, site of Old WWTP, is a valuable commodity to the Town of Jacksonville, which is in need of revitalization. Potential uses for the site, which sits on the edge of Wilson Bay, needed to be explored. Contact Person: Jay Levine, School of Vet Med. Project Name: Walnut Creek 2000 Project Description: Downtown wetland area which is part of the Neuse River watershed is in need of restoration efforts to address water quality and flooding issues. Neighborhood Community is interested in neighborhood amenities such as a park and greenway trail being part of programmatical planning for the area. Land uses (prison, natural heritage lands) and topographic features make the areal coordination and access difficult. Local citizen efforts have generated money and efforts to have school playground dedicated as play area and public park, but are in need of further funds to address stormwater/ drainage problems.
