WECO was originally funded by a 3-year grant from the USDA CREES. Currently, the work is funded by an EPA 319 Grant for implementing research and BMPs in the Pettiford Creek subwatershed and the Town of Swansboro. Stakeholder Groups and Participants
The White Oak River Watershed Advisory Board consisted of a broad range of stakeholders who represent various interests related to water quality management in the White Oak River watershed. During their investigation and discussion of shellfish closures, the WORAB members were officially appointed by the county commisioners of Jones, Carteret, and Onslow Counties. With the recent change in focus to implementing the 319 Grant, participation may be on a more ad-hoc basis.
