Background
In January 2003, WECO partnered with the NCWRP to facilitate watershed planning in a watershed of the Lower Yadkin Pee Dee River Basin. The watershed planning process is progressing in 2 Phases.
PHASE ONE:
NCWRP initiated Phase 1 of the watershed planning process in January 2002. A watershed stakeholder group was convened to provide assistance with developing a watershed plan for the drainage area of the Upper Rocky River, Dye Creek, and Clarke's Creek. Portions of the watershed are in Iredell, Cabarrus, and Mecklenburg counties.

PHASE TWO:
In Phase 2 of the project, which began in January 2003, four additional local watersheds (14-digit hydologic units) are added to the Phase 1 planning area. Phase 2 involves developing a watershed plan for this area. The creeks in this area include Reedy, Coddle, Mallard, and Toby. The entire area, including the current area of focus, comprises subbasin 11, as it is designated in the NC Division of Water Quality's Basinwide plan for the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. The Phase 2 planning area includes the counties listed in Phase 1, as well as Rowan County.
