Background
The Fishing Creek Local Watershed Planning is a project of the NC Ecosystem Enhancement Program. EEP is charged with finding stream and wetland mitigation projects. The Fishing Creek watershed, along with the Gibbs and Sand Creek watersheds were chosen because the Department of Transportation foresees road construction and improvements in the upper Tar-Pamlico River Basin. EEP has chosen local watershed planning as the means to find sites for restoration and enhancement in this area. EEP has asked WECO to facilitate the stakeholder involvement.
