Karen DeBord
Professor & Extension Specialist, Child Development, Director of Graduate Programs
Dr. Karen DeBord has been with North Carolina Cooperative Extension at NC State University since 1995. Previous to her work in North Carolina, she was an Extension faculty member at Virginia Tech and also with the University of Missouri.
Dr. DeBord supports Extension Agents in North Carolina's 100 counties who conduct educational programs for parents, families and child care professionals. She is also the Director of Graduate Programs for a Master's Degree in Family Life and Parenting Education. She is known nationally as an expert in parenting education and is a parent and grandparent herself. Her son Shawn is now 17 years old and daughter Whitney is 22 with a young daughter.
