4-H Youth Development Specialist, Air Force
As part of the USDA/4-H Military Partnership, David Brittain coordinates the Air Force youth fitness and health initiative, FitFactor. He creates and maintains the web-based program (www.afgetfit.com) that has reached over 18,000 military youth in the programs first year of operations. In addition, David develops FitFactor marketing materials and publications, conducts training and technical assistance and reports program impact and accomplishments to HQ AF and HQ USDA leadership.
David supports 4-H clubs on all active duty Air Force bases. He provides leadership, support and coordination to Air Force Youth Programs staff, State 4-H Military Liaisons and County Extension Agents who establish and sustain 4-H clubs for military youth and families on base. David conducts 4-H 101 trainings for Extension and military professionals and provides resources and technical assistance.
The Air Force Stay Connected Kits initiative provides children and families a way to keep connected when a family member deploys. David coordinates this program that has provided more than 14,000 Stay Connected Kits to families of deploying Airmen.
David works with HQ USDA, CSREES, Air Force staff and other youth serving organizations to determine needs of youth development professionals on the base and plans and arranges conferences and training sessions.
