4-H EFNEP Coordinator
Carolyn Rudd serves as Coordinator for the 4-H Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). 4-H EFNEP, provides to young people age 5-19 a practical, hands-on approach to nutrition education and food preparation. This idea of “Learning by Doing” encourages positive dietary changes, increased physical activity and improved food safety habits resulting in better health and enhanced self-esteem.
Carolyn began her career with Cooperative Extension in 1979 as Extension Agent, Family and Consumer Sciences in Pasquotank County. In 2005, she was named 4-H EFNEP Coordinator.
Her main responsibilities include:
Provide statewide leadership for the 4-H Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program:
Oversee the 4-H EFNEP budget:
Assist with conducting EFNEP reviews;
Assist with the organization and leadership for the EFNEP Advisory Group;
Work with state and county teams in support of 4-H EFNEP and the overall Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program;
Build and maintain partnering relationships;
Secure program resources;
Administer special projects;
Training and development; and
With the assistance of the co-chair, provide leadership for the Nurturing Healthy Lifestyles Long Range Focus Area.
