Storm Water Retention Pond Demonstration Project

Located at the Spring Lake Family Resource Center and the Cumberland County Spring Lake Branch Library, the storm water retention pond has been converted to a combination of storm water wetland and rain garden. The site is large enough to accommodate both of these practices to demonstrate that storm water retention areas can be pleasing to the eye and also serve as a way to remove pollutants and slow their travel to waterways.

The site is composed of three zones.

The site also is home to a variety of insect and other life including dragon flies, frogs, and lizards which is provides a balance in the ecosystem.
