Trees
Redbud
The problem you have described is Botrytis or gray mold.
Gray mold is a
fungus that contributes to decomposition of dead material but
will invade living tissue
under suitable environmental conditions including moist air with
little air movement or
when the plant is under some stress. It is likely that the
problem is worse in the
interior of your tree. The problem is seldom serious. Removing
affected parts with
pruners will limit spreading. It can be further limited by any
measures which reduce
stress and promote air circulation and drying of the foliage.
