Bradford Pear
Leaves
This is an immature stage of ash whitefly. The adult is a
small white insect
that flies readily when disturbed. Natural controls are
important as
insecticides have not proven effective. Since pesticides affect
naturally occurring
predators, their use may actually make the problem worse.
Natural leaf drop and the
removal of infested leaves may help to disrupt the reproduction
cycle and reduce the
insect pressure. Should chemicals be needed, insecticidal soaps
and horticultural oils
are the first choices.
