Debbie Roos, Agricultural Extension Agent,
Receives Outstanding Extension Service Award
Debbie Roos was presented with an Outstanding Extension Service Award by North Carolina State University on April 27, 2005.
These awards encourage and recognize outstanding faculty of NC State University who are engaged in meaningful and beneficial collaboration between the University and external partners and communities. Faculty have a unique and fundamental role within land-grant universities. They assess needs, develop appropriate programs to address those needs, and often work outside the traditional classroom. Their objectives are to provide education and assistance that will help people make decisions and solve problems. Faculty members team with professional peers to see that relevant knowledge and technology are brought to bear on clients' problems. Faculty must demonstrate expertise in their disciplines as well as the ability to interpret, synthesize, adapt, and convey knowledge and information through traditional and non-traditional methods. Extension and Engagement is a meaningful and beneficial collaboration between the university and external partners and communities. It is the part of teaching that enables learning beyond campus walls, the part of research that makes what we discover useful beyond the academic community, and the part of service that directly benefits the public.
