Upcoming Classes

The following classes are open to all people regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability and will be held in the downstairs Auditorium at the Agriculture Building, 45 South Street, Pittsboro. Classes will begin promptly at the stated time. Please allow about 10-15 minutes to check in, pick up materials, find a seat, and be ready to start. Instructors are listed after the class title.

Cost of classes is $5.00 each to cover cost of refreshments and materials. Light refreshments and beverages will be available. Please feel free to bring supper or snacks according to your preference.

April 19, 6:30 p.m. Landscaping with Native Plants – Al Cooke, Extension Agent, Chatham County
“Native” is not as well defined as we would like. But we’ll consider a lot of great plants that you can add to your gardening palette.

April 25, 7:00 p.m. Attracting Wildlife to Your Backyard – Dr. Chris Moorman, Extension Wildlife Specialist, Department of Forestry, NC State University If you like to sit at the window and watch deer and bunnies, butterflies and birds amongst your plants, here’s how to get them.

April 26 , 7:00 p.m. Controlling Wildlife in Your Backyard – Dr. Chris DiPerno, Extension Wildlife Specialist, Department of Forestry, NC State University What 4-legged friends are eating your garden? Deer? Rabbits? Voles? Strategies for understanding and living with these and more will be offered.

May 3, 6:30 p.m. Plant Propagation – Al Cooke, Extension Agent, Chatham County
Ever wanted to grow your own? Here’s a chance to learn more about growing plants from seed or cuttings
