About twenty dairy farmers and their families gathered at Ye Olde Country Kitchen in Snow Camp on February 21 for the annual Dairy Herd Improvement Association Awards Banquet. The program included dairy farmers from Alamance and Chatham counties. Glenn Woolard, County Extension Director, presented the awards.

The Chatham dairy farm award winners were (left to right) Janice Lindley with Lindley Farm, Norman Jordan, Sr. with Brush Creek Swiss Farm, and Lynn Mann with Manco Dairy. Linley Farm won the high herd for most improved milk. Brush Creek Swiss Farm came home with several awards including the high herd for milk and fat and also the high cow for milk, fat and protein. Manco Dairy took top honors for the lowest somatic cell count herd. Not pictured are Lillie Bouldin and Glenda Andrews with Hillside Dairy. Hillside Dairy was winner for the lowest days open herd.

Appreciation is extended to ABS, Carolina Farm Credit, Purina Feeds and Southern States, Mebane and Siler City Service, for sponsoring the awards banquet.
