Chatham and Alamance County DHIA Production Awards

The 2003 Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA) production awards for farmers in Alamance and Chatham Counties were presented at their annual meeting held March 18th at Ye Old Country Kitchen in Snow Camp.  The twenty members present shared good food and fellowship while honoring their fellow dairymen as they received their awards for having high producing individual cows and overall herds for milk, fat and protein production as well as awards for producing high quality milk and having reproductively efficient cows. In addition to the yearly business of recognizing outstanding milk production and farm management, the DHIA members discussed the possibility of establishing a college scholarship to assist students who had a connection to the dairy industry and a desire to study agriculture.  The group assigned a committee to explore details and will meet in early summer to finalize plans for this outstanding community service project.
