Volunteer Opportunities


There are many opportunities for volunteering in 4-H. Some possibilities include:

* Leading a club

* Teaching youth

* Teaching adults

* Coaching youth on presentations

* Serving on committees

* Writing news articles

* Organizing events and activities

* Making displays

* Chaperoning overnight trips

* And many others

People volunteer for 4-H for many reasons. One obvious benefit for parents is spending time with and being a positive role model for their children. Other benefits volunteers say they enjoy are:

* enhanced self-esteem

* leadership skill development

* job related skill development

* social opportunities

Volunteers helping volunteers is what makes the 4-H Volunteer network across North Carolina strong.

The process for becoming a volunteer is quite simple. It goes like this:

  1. Fill out a 4-H Volunteer Application

  2. Read and sign the North Carolina 4-H Volunteer Standards of Behavior Guidelines

  3. Schedule an interview to discuss current volunteer opportunities
