Chatham County 4-H Program collaborated with a local school seventh and eighth grade parent committee to put together a Discovery Program for their students. This program allowed students to have more elective courses to chose from and allowed teachers, volunteers, and community leaders to teach a topic of their choice using some 4-H curriculum (Partner in Learning, Rivers Edge, and CareerSmarts) and others who wished to share a trade, teach a class or create something.

The discovery program was held one hour per week in a small classroom setting at the school for twenty weeks . After the first ten weeks, students were able to select another elective course of their choice. There were 292 students and 36 volunteers involved in the two ten week sessions of this excellent program.
IMPACTS: post evaluations given to youth at the end of each ten week session.
