The Chatham County 4-H program sponsored a three week day camp at Jordan Lake. One hundred-fifty-one  campers enjoyed hands-on activities as they learned about the natural environment,
bicycling skills, recycling, composting, food and
nutrition, and managing money.  Eleven volunteers assisted at Day Camp.

The wooded, lakeside day camp had a visit from WRAL-TV farm news reporter Dan Wilkinson, who reported some of the camp's activities on his TV show, on June 27.

Day Camp evaluations each week showed youth
gained knowledge and/or understanding of the
activities as shown by the following IMPACTS.
1. 89% of the youth agreed that learning can be fun.
2. 87% of the youth learned more about managing  money.
3. 94% learned about our natural environment.
4. 91% developed bicycling skills.
5. 86% gained an understanding of recycling.
6. 85% learned more about food and nutrition.
