Chatham County 4-H’ers were recognized at the Chatham County 4-H Annual Achievement Night and Dessert Social on November 15, 2005. At this event, 4-H’ers were honored for their hard 4-H work as well as community service work. 4-H volunteers were also recognized. Those being honored for their service to the community were: Hailey Allen, Heather Allen, Kim Anderson, Siobhan Cahill-Billings, Blythe Freeman, Matthew Graham, Allie Leight, Rachel Thomas-Levy, Taylor May, Roby Moreland, Mariah Perry, Allison Powell, Nicole Powell, and Maggie Strickland. 4-H’ers who were recognized for participation in the Chatham County 4-H County Activity Day as well as the South Central District Activity Day were: Hailey Allen, Heather Allen, Abe Herbert and Allison Powell. Several 4-H’ers participated in an art and writing contest held at the North Carolina State 4-H Horse Show. These 4-H’ers also entered their work into the Chatham County Fair as well as the North Carolina State Fair. Those 4-H’ers who participated in these activities were: Siobhan Cahill-Billings, Manon MacAllister, Taylor May, Roby Moreland, Leah Purvis and Maggie Strickland. Four 4-H’ers took a big leadership role within their club by leading the project their club was working on. These 4-H’ers are members of the Red Wolves 4-H Club and they are Matthew Graham, Allie Leight, Allison Powell and Nicole Powell. Those 4-H’ers who have been active in the 4-H Livestock program were also recognized. 4-H’ers recognized for their participation in this program included: Dani Culberson, Kaylyn Groce, Ethan Jones, Nathan Jones, Logan Thomas, and Sarah Thomas. 4-H volunteers were also recognized. Volunteers who were honored included: Dedrah Earles, Phyllis Graham, Janet Groce, Julie Groce, Susan Thomas-Levy, Patty Moreland and Dan Sundberg. Ms. Bernice Hinshaw was also recognized with over 35 years of service to the Chatham County 4-H program. The guest speaker for the program was Mary Kathryn Hardison a Harnett County 4-H’er and South Central District 4-H President.
