Several clubs can be organized in the same community to meet the needs and development stages of youth. The recommended membership according to age in community clubs include 5 to 8, 9 to 12, and 13 to 19.Chatham 4-H clubs include: Red Wolves 4-H Homeschool Club, Rocky River Riders 4-H Club, Silk Hope 4-H Horse Adventureers Club, and the Charging Champions Livestock 4-H Club. At present there are 1,484 4-H members in Chatham County.
Educational enrichment
activities
are available
to Chatham youth. Examples of such activites include:
Leadership
Development, Bicycle Safety & Maintenance, Nutritional Health,
Public Speaking, Career Development,
Demonstration/Presentation, 4-H Congress, 4-H Camp and Animal Science.
4-H SCHOOL ENRICHMENT
4-H school enrichment projects are a cooperative effort between the schools and the 4-H
program.
Teachers can request curriculum topics that include: Project
Learning Tree - K thru 12, Embryology - 3rd grade, River's
Edge/Environmental Science - 5th grade, and Environmental
Education - 2nd thru 8th grades.
4-H AFTER-SCHOOL
4-H enrichment activities
are
available in all after-school programs. Through hands-on experiences,
youth can develop life and leadership skills. Contact the 4-H agent for more information on how NC 4-H can help your after-schoo program.
Camping opportunities are
available
to boys and
girls ages 6-19 during the months of June - August. Early
registration and fees are required. Chatham County will be attending Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H
Camp the week of July 24-29,2005.Chatham County 4-H Day Camps are held at
Jordan Lake
each summer.
