Woodchucks
Shooting and Trapping are effective controls. An electric fence
4 to 5 inches off the ground will deter woodchucks. A 2 inch
mesh woven wire or heavy poultry wire will deter woodchucks if it
is 3 foot high and buried 10 inches deep. In addition, the top
15 inches must bend outward. No fumigants are registered in
North Carolina but effective fumigants may be labeled in other
areas. Woodchucks are covered by North Carolina
Law for Wildlife Killed for Depredations.
