Skunks
Skunks can be trapped or shot. Live trap with
Tomahawk or Havahart traps. Cover with a tarp to reduce chance
of getting sprayed. Use number 1 or 1.5 steel kill traps.
Skunks should be excluded from houses and buildings. Crawlspace
door must be thin metal because skunks can open wooden doors.
You can use flour at the entrance to help determine if skunks
have left. To reduce skunk smell use a solution of 1 gallon
vinegar and 1 cup liquid cleaner. Report rabid or suspected
animals to local health department.
Skunks are covered by North Carolina
Law for Wildlife Killed for Depredations. Skunks digging for
grubs in lawns may stop if you kill the grubs. See
phamplet on grub control.
