Master Gardener Decision Support Guide

American Crows

Sprouting corn in small gardens can be covered with netting. Scattering water soaked corn on the surfaces as an alternate food may be effective. Don't use decoy food until you have a problem. Frightnening devices may be effective. Use a combination of scare devices, vary them and be persistent. Scare devices include mylar tape, electronic noise devices, radio controlled model planes, helium filled ballons and distress calls. Shooting birds can reinforce scare devices but is not effective if no other devices are used. There are no posions or repellents legal for home gardeners.
