Woody Ornamentals
Camellia
The problem you have described is camellia canker. This fungal
disease can not be cured once it has infected a stem. Avoiding
drought and nutrition stress will make camellias more resistant
to this fungus. Avoiding injuries will also help prevent
additional cankers. Pruning out cankers and dieback will reduce
the infection source. It will take several years for the canker
to encircle the main stem.
