Woody Ornamentals
Camellia
The problem you have described is thought to be caused by a
virus. This is common on camellias and doesn't cause major
problems although individual leaves may frost or sunburn easily.
The virus has been widely distributed both accidently and by
growers who wanted the variegation of the leaves or flowers.
Plant propagation is the only known transmission mechanism.
Natural transmission is possible but not a major concern.
