Woody Ornamentals

Azaleas

Cresent shaped notches develop when cranberry rootworm adults feed on the plant. The cranberry rootworm feed at dark so they are seldom seen by gardeners. The amount of foliage removed is not critical but looks unsightly. The immature insects also feed on the roots.
To control cranberry rootworms use Orthene, Sevin or Dursban. Spray during May or June and cover the foliage as well as the soil beneath the plant.
