Upon the realization that there was no opportunity for
professional development awards specifically
designated for Extension Family and Consumer Education Agents in
North Carolina, Ada Dalla-Pozza,
retired State Home Economics Leader, initiated the establishment
of this endowment fund in 1992. Members
of the North Carolina Extension Association of Family and
Consumer Sciences assisted in providing the
initial endowment of $30,000 before utilizing the interest gained
for their first award.
CONTRIBUTIONS
Can be made to the NC Family and Consumer Sciences Foundation designating the
contribution to be added to the "NCEAFCS Ada Dalla-Pozza Professional Development Award".

PURPOSE
The purpose of this award is to enhance the professional
development of an outstanding Extension Family and
Consumer Sciences career professional in North Carolina, who
exhibits the ability to recognize concerns and
needs of families and to involve people in planning and
implementing educational programs that benefit
clientele. The award is to be used for a professional improvement
opportunity that will enhance the
development of the applicant.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Member in good standing of North Carolina Extension
Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Applicant must have a professional Extension appointment on a
county/area level with the
responsibility for planning and implementing programs that
benefits families.
- Applicant must have had a minimum of 5 years outstanding and
creditable experience as an Extension
professional with North Carolina Cooperative Extension
and anticipate continuing career with
NCCE, with at least 5 years of left before
retirement.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Original application is to be mailed to
Vicki Pettit, Exective Assistant to the Director of Cooperative Extension.
- Due date will be announce when details for the Cooperative Extension's
Award Opportunities for Agents
are released.

JUDGING PROCEDURES
- The State Vice President for Awards and Recognition will received all submitted ADA B. DALLA-POZZA PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT ENDOWMENT award applications from Dr. Joe Zublena's office.
- Award applications will be give to State Awards Committee Group A to score
and select an awardee. Mrs. Ada Dalla-Pozza will serve each year as an
ex-officio member of this Judging Committee.
- Awardee will be notified by letter from the State Vice President
for Awards and Recognition.
- The State Vice President
for Awards and Recognition will coordinate the presentation of this award with the State
Extension Honors Awards committee and NC State University Agricultural
Foundation.
AWARDS PRESENTATION
- Funds to be awarded will be subject to interest available up
to the amount of $1000 per awardee. Available interest funds over the amount awarded will be
added to the principle.
- If there are no qualified applicants for this award in a
given year, all interest funds for that year will be
added to the principle in the development fund account.
- A plaque and check will be presented to the awardee at the annual
conference (or District Conference when an annual conference is not held)
of North Carolina Cooperative Extension during the organization's awards ceremony.

in NCEAFCS and attend annual sessions. One Family and Consumer
Education Agent per ASSOCIATION district can receive
this award each year.

apply for this award.

The Youth Award is granted to recognize and celebrate the
efforts of Family and Consumer Education Agents for their
accomplishments in youth programming. One Family and Consumer
Education Agent per ASSOCIATION district can receive
this award each year.

- Be a member of NCEAFCS
- Programs must have been conducted within the last year
- Applications should be submitted following the
Procedure For Submitting Awards.

for Awards and Recognition.

The Ruth Current Scholarship Fund was established by the North
Carolina Extension Homemakers Association, Inc. This memorial
fund which provides a $2,000 scholarship is deposited with the
Home Economics Foundation, Inc. of the School of Human
Environmental Sciences at the University of North Carolina at
Greensboro to assist graduate students to obtain advanced degrees
in Environmental Sciences. Preference is given to applicants who
are serving as an Extension Family and Consumer Education
agent.
Applicants must be pursuing their major in Environmental Sciences
at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (not a minor),
and are obligated to work with the NC Cooperative Extension
for two years following completion of the degree.
For an application, interested individuals should write to the
Dean of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of North
Carolina at Greensboro, 235 Stone Building, Greensboro, NC 27412
or call 336-334-5980. Applications are to be sent to the Dean of
the School of Human Environmental Sciences, the University of
North Carolina at Greensboro by February 15. Awards are made for
the following semester.
