President Denise Baker called the meeting to order at 2:15pm. She thanked the
North Central District for Hosting the meeting and thanked Margaret Allsbrook
for the Refreshments. A copy of the Agenda was passed out to the membership
(attachment 1)**
Susan Condlin recorded the minutes until the Secretary arrived.
Susan Hamilton served as Parliamentarian
Dee Furlough provided an inspirational thought "Rising to the Challenge"
Deborah Stroud, NC District President welcomed the group to the North Central
District and recognized the NC District for the hard work that they have done.
Tracy Davis made a motion to dispense with the reading of the March 8, 2002
Board of Director's meeting and accept as posted to the Web. Seconded by Frances
Turner. Motion Passed.

Susan Morgan made a motion to approve Recommendation 1, Section 2, Debbie Stroud,
seconded . Motion passed.
Board of Directors approved by-law's Recommendation and will submit for approval
to general membership.
Budget: presented by President Baker in the absence of Mauren Minton-Treasurer
(Attachment 3) Any member of the Association-request from the Treasurer or Secretary
can receive a Copy of the budget)

is complete. (Attachment 5). Federation Nomination was added to the 2003 list
of Officers.

2002 Annual Meeting Theme "Rising to the Challenge through Leadership, Excellence
and Transition. She reviewed the week activities.

Announcements:
Evelyn DeLoatch reminded the Board that by September 1st to submit to her
"Challenge 2002" form. (Attachment 9). District Presidents were encouraged
o push district members to submit the form directly to Evelyn DeLoatch.
PILD (Public Issues Leadership Development) all members were sent a package of
materials. Package was sent to District VP's for Public Affairs.

Denise Baker-Evelyn DeLoatch-delegates. The visit to Capital Hill is worth the

Federation Report:
Lobbyist Issue-political issue, can't approach the Legislators
"Salary" increases. Rodney Sawyer wants to have Associations hire a Lobbyist
to work on behalf of Extension staff. After a discussion it was decided that
more questions need to be asking and answered, before providing support to this
Issue.
The Webmaster for Federation for 1 year will be Susan Condlin-FCS
Requested one page summary (Federation) of what has taken place since last
meeting- One page summary was developed.
Horn of Plenty:
Held in Winston-Salem- Good Horn of Plenty. Maurene
Minton did an excellent job. Will be in Greensboro is 2003.
Web Site Update:
The President commeded Susan Condlin for the job she is doing. She usually post
items to web on Wednesday mornings.
Hope Hunt maintains the retirees web page and is doing a good job.
Association purchased our domain name from Hope and pays a yearly fee to her to
maintain the name.
2003 NEAFCS Annual session Delegates:
Delegates are chosen on a rotation base. With the change of the membership
count - delegate number is down. Administration provides $400.00 travel support
per delegate (7 delegates. Corsages for our DSAs are provided by the District).
North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences - NCAFCS:
Dense Baker and Frances Turner attended the State meeting in Fayetteville,
March 2002.
Deborah Howard will be state president of this organization in 2005.
State Association Issues
Decrease in Membership-new Agents taking on" new rolls" that they are not
familiar with.
Treasure
The treasure has less money to work with.
Other Association support and Annual Conference.
Did not send State support to 4-H (money request) .
Presidents' to attend the other Associations Meeting.
(Do we invite them and do we pay for them?) .
Need in writing a Memorandum of Understanding on this issue.
Federation president who attends other Association meeting is a guest and the
Association pays for this (out of host District pocket)
