2000 Professional Development Committee
Annual Report
OBJECTIVES:
1.Increase knowledge among all NCEAFCS members of the opportunities for
professional development through formal study, through workshops and seminars
and through distance learning opportunities.
2.Encourage exchange of research findings between districts and from
state and national levels.
3.Encourage attendance at the NCEAFCS meeting. Investigate funding for
national meeting attendance for first-times.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
1.The revised1999 NCEAFCS Professional Development Opportunities Handbook,
originally developed in 1998, which includes additional schools within
and contiguous to North Carolina, as well as information on additional
degree programs which may be relevant to FCE work, was distributed to
all members.
2.Members have been encouraged to utilize the web site (www.ga.unc.edu/UNC_schools
) to attain the most recent professional development activities at the
various universities within the UNC System.
3.Members and specialists were encouraged to post to e-mail and e-news
information about opportunities for seminars, workshops and other training
opportunities. Several specialists and at least one agent periodically
posted such notices. In addition, specialists compiled and distributed
a list of North Carolina graduate course options in fields of study related
to human develop for fall 2000.
4.Members at district meetings were encouraged to attend both NCEAFCS
and NEAFCS meetings.
5. Five members completed advanced degrees since the 1999 Annual Meeting:
