President's Message

As we enter the fall season many of us experience Seasonal depression. As leaves begin to turn colors and fall to the ground, weather cools, and moods often change. I am one of those people. However, I recently attended a "Get Motivated" Seminar, in hopes to overcome the impending blues.
During the seminar Zig Ziglar spoke on motivation being the key. He immediately proposed the questions, "Does motivation really help? Isn't motivation temporary?" Answer to both questions: Yes. He went on to say, "However, eating and bathing also help and both are also temporary. But if you do both of them regularly, you live longer and smell better in the process! It's a fact: MOTIVATION gets you going, but habit gets you there. MAKE MOTIVATION A HABIT AND YOU'LL GET THERE MORE QUICKLY AND HAVE A LOT MORE FUN ON THE TRIP."
In spite of the rainy weather, we had a great time in Seattle at the National Association we heard great speakers, participated in hands-on workshops, learned how to be better professionals and had the opportunity to network and socialize with our colleagues throughout the Nation and MOST of all had a FUN TRIP!
I encourage those of you who did not attend the National meeting to touch base with those who did and ask them what was ONE "WOW" that they came away from the conference with. If we continue to share our "WOWs",we will continually and habitually motivate our colleagues.
In closing, I truly believe that with the many changes going on in North Carolina 4-H we all should be motivated to do our part to continue the success for our profession and share the motivation with the young people we reach daily.
Remember to GET MOTIVATED,

Spring Williams
