4-H Agent,
Guilford County

Professional Achievements:
Helped County CES and center for New North Carolinians plan for Guilford's first Summer Salsa Sizzle. This program allowed about 200 participants to experience the Latino culture through salsa cooking/tasting demo, salsa dance lessons, garden demos of ethnic vegetables, and cultural games and activities.

Coordinated with ACES (Guilford County schools after school program) director for the past 2 years to train all ACES site directors, facilitators, and instructors in 4-H curriculum. Worked with interested parents to establish a 4-H Shooting Sports club. This program uses skills and disciplines of safe shooting and conservation to assist young people and their leaders in attaining knowledge and developing essential life skills. The program can enhance family communications and quality time together. It creates an environment for a caring relationship between a young person and parent or other significant adult.Received TC Blalock Young Agent Award, Bernadette Watts Professional Improvement Scholarship, Lathan Smith Professional Development Award, Edgar & Ethel Boone Adult Education Award, Victoria Cope Scholarship, Chet & Lucy Black 4-H Professional Development Scholarship.Attended JCEP, PILD 2 years as NCAE4-HA representativeServe on board for NC 4-H Development Fund, Millstone 4-H Center, Betsy-Jeff 4-H Educational Centerens.

Accomplishments:
Served as: Secretary, President-Elect, President, Past-President of NCAE4-HA; 4-H Agent mentor; District Officer Advisor, CEMP 20 team member; Curriculum Review Committee member; District Volunteer Advisor; 4-H Camping Auditing Committee member; State Camping Committee member; District Horse Council Advisor; committee member to create Code of Ethics for 4-H Youth Development Professionals; State Curriculum trainer; LFRA development committee member for LRFA #1 Engaging Youth for Successful Learning; Ambassador Program advisor. Active in district, state and national 4-H Agents associations and committee work.

Honors and Awards:
"I have served as a 4-H Agent for 12 years. My role as 4-H youth development professional has changed in these 12 years. As a youth development professional, it is important to understand how young people learn and grow and utilize that knowledge to create quality experiences for the youth and their families. My personal Credo of Youth Development is that I will lead by example, be a good role model, and be committed to positive youth development."
