    II.Resource Utilization:

Chowan County staff use University resources as an integral part of programming efforts:

  • Participate on CEMP committees #7 and #16.

  • Close association with Program Area specialists and use of specialists in developing and presenting education programs. This is particularly evident in Agricultural/Aquaculture programs where specialist presentation is also coordinated with adjacent counties.

  • Participation in staff development training, both in Raleigh and regional training held in the counties. All staff enroll and attend.

  • The resources provided through NCSU-CALS-Extension are recognized in newsletters, news articles, meetings, tours and demonstrations.

The University resources are reinforced through staff use of community resources such as:

  • County and Town are a vital link in Extension's ability to carry out programs. Grounds and facilities made available provide the setting for educational programs.
  • Community clubs and facilities (fire department, Ruritan clubs) provide additional facilities in more distant areas of the county to help extend Extension programs.
  • Albemarle Learning Center has become a partner in presenting youth programming.
  • Chowan County Schools and Extension work together to present programs.
  • Interagency Council provides valuable contact with agencies that may be potential partners in Extension programs.
  • Chowan County Fair Board - involvement allows a strong Extension presence in the largest fair in the Albemarle Area.
