Denise Brown, Surry County Administrative Secretary is a genuine go-getter. Having served in many roles such as president, vice president and advisor on numerous committees in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Secretaries Association at the sta
te and district levels, she has contributed excellent leadership and invaluable service. Denise has and continues to exhibit the leadership, energy, skills, commitment, dedication, loyalty and service in seeking improvement and excellence for the secretar
ies association and Cooperative Extension.
Specifically, she has assisted NCCESA in garnering increased financial support; helped to establish an endowment with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service Foundation that provides increased professional development, training and scholarships f
or secretaries; spurred examination and inquiry of the statewide secretarial reclassification system; increased communications with administration; successful in securing retirement gift options; attended district meetings as state president and recruited
other secretaries for leadership roles.
In addition, Denise has represented secretaries and CES extremely well and beyond the call of duty. She has served in numerous leadership and service roles such as Director of County Operations Position Study and Recommendation Committee; Assistant Treasu
rer of the Horn of Plenty; North Carolina Foundation Board member and Chair of the Benevolence Committee; NCSU Staff Senator; Adjunct member - Blue Ribbon Study Commission and Board Member, Webmaster and President-Elect of the North Carolina Federation of
Cooperative Extension Associations and all of this within the past year!
Despite it all, Denise as Administrative Secretary for Surry County does an excellent job providing leadership and support in personnel, budgetary and programming arenas. Her positive attitude and work is synonymous with enthusiasm and quality. She is wel
l respected by the entire Extension staff, volunteers, customers, youth and county government and it is because of her efforts that quality programs are delivered to customers. She is also active in her community, assisting with youth programs and serving
as Booster Club Treasurer, where she helped raise over $300,000.
