Billy Little

William E. "Billy" Little, Extension Agent, has been instrumental in providing commercial growers and extension clientele in Nash County with very complete researched-based educational program for 11 years. He has put farmers' needs and concerns as his No. 1 Priority. In his career he has worked with Commercial Horticulture, Urban Horticulture, Forestry, Natural Resources, Tobacco, and Chemical Coordinator. During Billy’s career he was able to establish a Farmers Market with Board of Directors, bylaws and a site to operate the market weekly. This has given the small produce growers an avenue to move their produce. Many of the growers indicated a 250% increase in their weekly profit margin. A Multi-County Nurseryman Association was formed with Extension being responsible for educational programming called the Tar Greens Association. With the landscape and environment in mind a Chemical Collection Day was conducted in Wilson County with over 12,000 pounds of unwanted chemicals turned in to make it the largest collection thus far in the state history. This goes hand in hand with the chemical recycle container program that is conducted at all 11 sites in Wilson County. Billy has worked with many different programs and research techniques as post harvest sweet potato buildings, vegetable production changes and information has increased the profit line for producers.
