Welcome was given by Crystal Smith, President-Elect at 10:02am.
Dr. Marshall Stewart, State 4-H Leader, gave an update from the State 4-H Office.
Highlights from the update are as followed:
-Revisited the Change Management Update given by Dr. Zublena at the awards banquet.
-Gave thoughts on the 4-H/FCS merger, which will help us do things together
that we may not be able to do apart.
-What's Going on in 4-H?
-4-H Professional Summit in the end of November, there will be an email released
by the end of next week. The idea of the Summit is an opportunity for 4- H professionals
to understand the board issues that deal with youth in NC. We will also be working
on the new LRFA's. The invitation has been extended to CED's and DED's. This
even will be held at the Sheraton RTP.
-LINC (Leadership Innovation North Carolina) - Partially funded by the NC Development
Fund. Dr. Safrit and Dr. Stewart Will develop classes to go through a high level
leadership training piece that will help us grow professionally. Initially one
agent per district will participate in these sessions. Information will be posted
to the internet soon.
-Youth Development Research Center - Dr. Downing has been given the charge to
head this center. It will be a one stop for professionals to pull information
and research on the youth in NC.
-There will be more investment into the State 4-H Youth Council.
-Working on some new partnerships with DPI and Science Technology, Engineering
and Math (STEM). NCSU is one of 11 universities working with STEM. 4-H will
be a part of the NC STEM innovative requesting 4 million dollars. We still have
a way to go before it is approved. This is the first time that 4-H has been
brought to this level. If you would like to learn more about STEM go to the

-We are also partnering with the NC Science House.
-The state is also working on developing a set of delivery modes to be used
through out the state.
-We will also be working on developing what is core 4-H.
-Working on evaluation pieces for our programs.
-Searching for an Executive Director of the 4-H Development Fund.
-Curriculum Development - Jackie Helton has joined the staff.
-NC Citizenship Conference - will be in June (no dates set)
-4-H Camping Programming - did not get money from the legislator, however we
came very close.

Enrichment Fund - Wallace Simmons
-Will be reviewing the levels of giving on the Enrichment Fund
-Clarity on why we did not recognize Enrichment Fund contributions at last night
awards banquet.
-Recommending that a challenge letter be composed by the board so that each
district could be challenged to match Dr. Proctor's donation of $800 to the
Enrichment Fund.
-Went over the glitch on the letters of commitment to the Enrichment Fund.
-Recommended that commitment letters are turned into the Enrichment Chair

Professional Development - April Dillon
-Dale Safrit is the new chair.
-Thanked April for chairing the committee.
-Reminded the group about the professional development scholarships.
-The committee indorsed the LINC
-Will work with Annual Conference committee to identify professional development
needs that will be part of the workshops at Annual Conference.
-Dr. Stewart's endowment will run through the Professional Development
-The Barnes will go thru the extension awards
