Each day, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service helps to strengthen our North Carolina families and communities. Our mission and our work are dedicated to improving the quality of people's lives. We rely on research-based information to develop educational programs based on the issues and the needs of our communities and citizens.
The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service is focusing its efforts on 50 major programs implemented by the county field faculty and supported by university-based specialists. These programs center on five major focus areas -- sustaining agriculture and forestry, protecting the environment, developing responsible youth, and developing strong, healthy, and safe families.
Following are highlights of a sample of our Extension programs at work.
