1998 Program Success Highlights
The success stories that follow represent the educational program highlights of the respective
counties and units of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service. (NCCES). These success
stories were provided by extension field faculty and other staff of NCCES and reflect highlights of
program achievements during calendar year 1998. The state major plan (SMP)
numbers represent success stories relating to one of the twenty state major plans. These twenty
plans reflect planned educational program thrusts in the areas of agriculture, natural resources,
family and consumer sciences, 4-H and youth development and, community and rural development.
