Swain County 4-H Clubs HOME

Cherokee/Swain 4-H Cloverbud Club & Jr. 4-H Club
This club provides a unique opportunity for youth from the Cherokee Reservation and Swain County to come together as one club. Great for beginning 4-Hers. Youth learn about 4-H, take part in educational activities, develop friendships and have fun!

For youth ages: 5 – 8
Meets 1st Tuesday of every month beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Location alternating between Cherokee and Bryson City
Leaders: Nira Franklin and Heather James

Jr. 4-H Club
Meets at the same time as the Cloverbuds.  This will allow siblings to participate in
4-H too!

For youth ages: 9 – 18
Meets 1st Tuesday of every month beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Location alternating between Cherokee and Bryson City

Swain County 4-H Youth Council
The ultimate goal of the youth council initiative is to build good citizens and future leaders via hands-on learning accomplished through service to the community. The Swain County 4-H Youth Council is sponsored by NC Cooperative Extension with grant funding from the Cherokee Preservation Foundation.

For youth ages 14 and older
Meets: 1st Monday of every month @ 6:00 p.m., Swain County Admin. Building
4th Wednesday of every month @ 8:50 a.m., Swain County High School
Leader:  Nira Franklin – Swain County 4-H Agent

Middle School Leadership Team
Build skills to become active leaders in the community and advance to be a member of the Swain County Youth Council.

For youth in grades 6th – 8th
Meets the 3rd Monday of each month
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Swain County Administration Building
Leader: Nira Franklin – Swain County 4-H Agent

Outdoor Adventurers 4-H Club
Experience the outdoors through our National and State Parks. Participate in field trips, hikes, the Jr. Ranger program and other fun outdoor projects. Youth will become a Jr. Master Gardener and grow their own garden. Outdoor Adventurers 4-H Club has pledged to maintain the ornamental gardens of the Marianna Black Library as their community service project.

For youth ages: 5 – 18
Meets 2nd Thursday on each month, November 8 – May 9, 2013
(Summer dates to be determined by club members)
Time: 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: Marianna Black Library, Bryson City
Leader: Kim VanWinkle

West Swain 4-H Club
Swain County 4-H welcomes a new 4-H Club!  Regular club meetings will be held in the western part of the county. Youth learn about 4-H, take part in various hands-on educational activities, develop friendships and have fun!

For youth ages: 5 – 18
Leaders: Holli Taylor and Crystal Taylor
