Upcoming Vance County 4-H Events and Registration Deadlines

4-H Presentations – With an 80+ year history of teaching youth how to be better public speakers, 4-H knows a thing or two about how to help your child become a FEARLESS presenter. Workshops and individual help available. Over 30 topics to choose from for a 5-12 minute presentation…Awards for presenting at the county, district, and state levels. Call for more details. Pre-registration is Monday, March 4th.

Spring Break STEM* Day Camp – Calling all 4th-8th graders who would love to learn how to solder, make a flashlight out of an Altoids tin, create a mini-robot and have a full-size robot demo, take a couple of field trips, and much more. Not your parents’ science class by any means. Read the attached flier and register quickly as spaces are limited. Deadline: March 15 or until filled.  *Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

Four County 4-H Pullet Chain Program – Little baby chicks grow into egg-laying hens. Help your child make the connection between a baby chick and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Participate in a family-oriented project that not only benefits your family but those who are much less fortunate. And you’ll see that I am telling the truth when you realize that each bird has its own personality. Raising chickens is FUN! Attached entry forms, rules and regulations give you the details. Deadline: March 15th

4-H Summer Camp RegistrationWe’re filling the bus so come register today for a week of awesome summer camp fun. Eastern 4-H Center, June 16-21. $100 Deposit. Registration open until filled. Limited number of slots available.

NC Zoo SnoozeSpend a night at the zoo and go on the Safari tour to visit either the Rhino or Giraffe Barn. Zoo will decide which closer to our visit. After our night of adventure, we will tour the zoo the next day. This was a new trip for us last year and everyone LOVED it. Dates: June 27th-28th. Cost: $35. Only 15 spaces. Registration open until filled.

Soils to Salad: How Does Your Garden Grow? Offered last summer for the first time by the Kerr Lake Master Gardener Volunteers. Participants were given shopping lists and money to shop at the Farmers Market. They brought their purchases back to the extension office and prepared a feast of a lunch. The farm tour was a huge hit as were the seed planting and many other activities they did. June 11, 12, 13. Ages: 8-11 years old. Cost: $15. Registering now. Limited spaces.
